New Update

Well what do you know it's 2017. Time sure flies when you forget that you actually have a blog. xD

I'm going to try harder from now on and target an update for at least once a week.

So let's see, what interesting things have happened since 2012?

The world didn't end, that's one.

I'm also engaged now and living with my fiance in the country's business district. I'm still looking for a job, and have a pretty good prospect right now so I'm hoping to get that.

I've also been actively gaming so I have that going for me.

I've taken a long leave from writing so maybe blogging will get me back in the swing of things. I just want to have something to look forward to every week.

So I guess that's it for now since I really have nothing else to say. xD

See ya all!

Lazy Blogging

I will admit.

I'm a lazy blogger. So lazy that it took me more than two months to make a new post right after my last one which was about ....um....accents. Yeah. Accents. Hehehe.

I guess it's because I'm not really the type of person who reveals everything I do on the internet. I like to keep even a part of myself a mystery online, at least.

...which is very much the opposite of how I am in real life.

Trust me, I'm pretty much an open book if you get to know me.

So I guess I'll have my editor set up a mental alarm to kick me in the behind to remind me that I still have a living blog.

Hopefully that works.

Psudo-Accents

It's been a while since I've made a post and honestly it was due to me being lazy and not having anything interesting to post.

Now I do, though, so hehehe.

We all have friends and family members that love to imitate accents and (begrudgingly or not) we love it. It's something to look forward to every time you meet this person just to have a few laughs or self indulging relaxation or play. No matter how fancy you term it, it boils down to one simple thing: It's fun.

That was until I encountered something that completely freaked me out.

I'm sure most people who have been reading this blog is familiar with the epic Peter Jackson adapted Tolkien series. Among the titles most known are "The Lord of The Rings" trilogy and the most recent movie "The Hobbit" which I have heard is going to be another movie trilogy despite being just one book. Either way, the adaptation is rather good so far. I have a few reservations after hearing rumors about the second movie but that's another topic all together.

Anyway, the Peter Jackson films does bring a point of mine onto the table.

Accents, specifically one from the franchise.

Gollum, in particular. Otherwise known as Smeagol.

While watching the movies, I particularly didn't mind the voice. I guess the visual helped since if you look at him on his own, he does look decent and I dare say a bit adorable.

The voice however, is another story.

I have recently discovered, thanks to my girlfriend, that I am absolutely terrified of him if it's just the voice.

Terrified.

Enough to cry.

Yes.

Long story short, she did the accent and within seconds I was already in tears and curling up into a little ball of pathetic.

It was a sad sight really.

On the bright side, though. It shows you how much an impact the character has on me. xD

I can openly empathize with Bilbo now in that Riddle scene. He must have been absolutely terrified!!

MY NBI Experience

April 25, 2012

This was the day I decided to get my NBI clearance. While I didn't have an immediate need for it, I had a friend who did. So for the lulz and thinking that I may need it in the future, I decided to tag along.

We arrived at Robinsons Metro East and was greeted by the sight of a long long line. It took a while but we figured out where the end of the line was and eventually got the numbers 399 and 400. It was a lucky break since that certain satellite office would only cater to 500 people. Though we had to wait till 11:45 to line up due to our numbers.

And wait we did.

We got ourselves some tasty lunch at KFC and bought tickets to the second to the last screening of the Avengers that day...in 3D!

11:45 came along faster than we expected and soon we were lining up, filling up forms, paying bills, getting our info encoded, get our picture taken and eventually line up for releasing.

My friend got her clearance easily but imagine my surprise when I didn't. I mean gosh...really? There was another Cigrid Erika V. Torres out there?

But long story short minus the mini inner rant, I was scheduled to come back May 14 to get my clearance and that was that.

The rest I decided to drown out by watching Avengers. Hmmmm Mark Rufallo~

May 14, 2012

I left my house at 10:30 and arrived at RP ME a few minutes later. I lined up for releasing since all I needed was my clearance. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of it and I had to go to the NBI's main office for a "Quality Control".

I went home dismayed and started to look for directions to get there and what to do once I got there.

I immediately felt dread when I saw the stories that were online about people showing their bad experiences there. Fearing the worst, I went to bed to store up energy for the impending day ahead of me.

May 15, 2012

LRT from Santolan to Recto and LRT 1 from Doroteo Jose to United Nations Avenue. That was the route that I took to the NBI clearance.

Much to my surprise it wasn't that bad. People were nice and gave me directions as to where I should go. When the interview came a woman, God bless her, interviewed me and had me fill up forms.

Before I knew it I had my Clearance in my hands. It was completely hassle free. The whole process took less than an hour and there was no hitches at all. Imagine that.

Moral of the story? Never listen to internet stories, they're not true for everybody.

So I hope this blog entry makes people feel better about going to NBI taft for their clearances. :D

To and Fro

It'd be surprised if anyone out there has yet to experience a carpool. Whether you're the one doing the picking up or vice versa, I believe that the etiquette in doing/asking for one is the same.

Here's something that I want to say after experiencing my most recent carpool.

Be on bloody time....

Regardless of which side of the track you're on make sure that you stick to the time agreed upon. 8-ish doesn't mean quarter to 9. It means between 8-8:15, latest being 8:30.

Why it's rude:

For the ones riding:
Yes, while I know as much as everybody that they should learn to wait since they're the one's asking for the ride and beggars can't be choosers, but come on...making them wait for an entire hour?

Not only is it inconsiderate but haven't you thought about the fact that they would have prepared early and/or rushed to get to the area where you agreed to meet so that they wouldn't keep YOU waiting out there?

For the ones that are doing the pick-up:
You're already the one who offered to do the pick up, hasn't it crossed your mind that you agreed at that certain time for a reason (getting tickets, managing to avoid a line/traffic, etc.)? After all, it's already most likely under your convenience that you're travelling. It wouldn't really hurt to follow a time since there are already others to be put under consideration, would it?

Long story short: Be on time. It keeps people happy and prevents rifts (even if momentary) among friends.

Downloading Videos from the Internet

So I've been wondering for some time if there were any decent programs to download capture flash video and audio from any website to your computer. I mean, I'm sure that there are software out there that enables people to download video and audio materials from sites like youtube and facebook but sometimes it's limited to those sites that have high traffic.

What if you want to download something from another site?

While looking around I coincidentally was introduced to this nifty little program that's called JCopia that ensures successful downloads from any website that you can find video or audio clips (even streams!).

The software even has a free trial version that lets users take it out on for a little test run to see if it works for them. For me it seems promising so hey, why not give it a try?

Basic Manners: Late Night Calls

Okay, here's the thing. I wouldn't mind if you're a little kid breaking this basic rule but if you're a fully grown 20 year old and you still do this, that's crossing the line buddy.

Isn't it considered rude already to call after 7:30pm for no good reason at all?

Here's a little something so that all of you know where I'm coming from.

It's already past 10 in the EVENING and suddenly the phone rings.

Most of the people here are already asleep and I'm still up trying to understand this html book that I have so that I can utilize it. So in knowing the former, I head up 2 flights of stairs to reach the phone worrying that it might be some emergency call.

Lo and behold. It's an old acquaintance of mine calling to ask if I had the number of a person she clearly knows I don't even speak to anymore. After doing so she attempts to bring up idle chatter.

Annoyed, upset and what have you, I told her I couldn't stay on the phone since it was late and also because I feel the glares directed at me since my uncle woke up because of the ringing phone.

My issue here is that I already told her about a thousand times (Exaggerated but you get my point) that she shouldn't call at such a late hour. I was so tempted to tell her that it's part of basic manners and phone etiquette but I stopped myself as to not embarrass her.

But man oh man this is just irritating.

So remember kids, if you don't want people thinking about you like what I'm doing right now DON'T call past 7:30pm unless it's an emergency.
